The Stables

Sleeps 14

Stunning original stable with courtyard set on the 400-acre Fasque Castle estate, offering luxurious spacious accommodation with lots of activities on offer in the local area.

The property is built in a square with a stunning courtyard with water feature and seating area and is the perfect setting to celebrate a special occasion or have a family reunion. The pretty ancient village of Fettercairn is just a few miles away with its Royal Arch which was Queen Victoria’s preferred route to Balmoral. This area has so much to offer from woodland and mountain walks, distilleries, castles and history including Dunnottar Castle which inspired the Disney film, Brave. For families, why not visit the nature reserve at Montrose where you can see local wildlife and seals or spend the day at the miniature railway or farm parks? It is also a great location to explore the Cairngorms as well as some beautiful unspoilt coastal beaches too.

Entering this property, you will walk into the lobby with views over the courtyard - there is lots of storage in here for shoes, coats and luggage. Walking through the hallway, you will find a snug/games room with comfy seating, board games, a TV and games console. Further along the corridor, is a handy separate WC.

The hallway opens up into the open-plan kitchen/lounge; the lounge area has a wood burner, Smart TV, Sonos music system and sound bar. There are views over the courtyard and direct access out to the garden and courtyard from here.

The huge kitchen area, featured in The Great Food Guys TV show is ideal for a large party or family gathering and features two islands. A touch of glamour is provided with sparkly granite work tops and there is the perfect mix of modern and old throughout, which really creates a luxurious and stylish feel. There is an oil-fired AGA, electric hob and oven, American-style fridge/freezer, wine cooler, Espresso machine and dishwasher.

From the kitchen, you will find a quiet seating area which then leads through to the formal dining room which seats ten; the dining room also has a small lounge area with seating.

There is a beautiful king-size, four-poster, ground-floor bedroom with en-suite bathroom which has a bath, shower and WC.

There are three separate staircases from the ground floor which access the first floor. On the first floor, there is a small gallery-style library/snug which overlooks the kitchen area, along with a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer.

Next are the five bedrooms: the first is a super-king-size with a roll-top bath which sits at the foot of the bed. This bedroom also has a walk-in wardrobe and en-suite wet room with shower and WC. There is a second super-king-size with en-suite bathroom featuring a free-standing bath, shower and WC. For younger families, there is a bedroom which features two double beds with an en-suite shower room and WC. There are a further two super-king-size bedrooms; one has an open-plan en-suite shower room with walk-in shower and WC and the other bedroom has an open-plan en-suite bathroom which is accessed via four steps - where there is a bath, shower cubicle and WC.

Outside, there is a large courtyard and garden area to explore, plus a resident peacock who you will often see around the grounds! There is a patio area for those looking to enjoy dining alfresco in the summer months and you can hire a charcoal BBQ from us.

There is private parking for up to five cars with an electric car charging point.

What our Guests say about The Stables...

  • Incredible venue for a family Xmas. Fantastic time had by all. House is stunning, great walks and we even had snow. We will definitely be back. Claire is an excellent House Manager

  • We stayed at the Stables on Fasque Estate the first weekend in March 2022. On arrival we were blown away by just how amazing the place was! Spotlessly clean, well equipped and in a fabulous location on the estate, we had an amazing time staying here as a group of 50+ friends. Walking round the grounds is fantastic (go to the lake - it’s soooo pretty and just stand and watch all the deer - so therapeutic) and Fettercairn is a short walk away for lovely food in the pub! The beds were so comfortable, the extras (like bathrobes and slippers) just a lovely touch and, in the evening, the wood burning stove gave the place such a nice feel. There is nothing we didn’t like! I would return here in a heartbeat!

  • The Most incredible venue for a joint 60th Birthday party. Family and friends travelled from Bournemouth, London and Sheffield. Monsoon conditions did not deter us from having a wonderful time. Great support from estate staff during flood and power cut.
